Welcome to LaLa Swallow! Here at LaLa Swallow we are committed to providing authentic products for your enhanced experience of traditional Korean culture. We hope to lead you on a journey of exploring the culture and traditions of Korea. Ultimately we hope that the tradition continues on your very own dining table. LaLa Swallow was made from a series of personal experiences and incidents; moving away from South Korea, to London and then to Bath has been an adventure for me. Living in Bath, a beautiful, small English city with a lot of heritage, has given me many opportunities to think about my home countries’ traditions. I began to long and miss the comforts of Korea. Covid-19 and the lockdown led to more thoughts but also gave me a fundamental realisation; as a mum of two boys, the time I was in the kitchen and at the dining table naturally increased with the whole family staying at home. I began to cook more often, and particularly focused on making my boys familiar with Korean foods. This led to me thinking of more ways to introduce traditional Korean foods and led to my attention to the Dolsot/ Ddukbaegi. I felt how charming and helpful the Dolsot and Ddukbaegi was in making Korean dishes while also experiencing the culture. I quickly realised that there is limited access to Dolsots or Ddukbaegis and it is extremely hard to purchase authentic and high quality products in the UK. I also recognised the lack of information and promotion of the kitchenware which was hindering the opportunities for people to experience the culture that was part of the Korean Dolsots and Ddukbaegis. Therefore, I developed a strong desire to introduce Dolsots to the UK. I was confident that I could provide people with an opportunity to learn more about Korean culture with traditional, authentic Ddukbaegi/ Dolsots and so I became the founder of LaLa Swallow. Here at LaLa Swallow, we believe that our Ddukbaegi product is more than just a new cooking experience. We truly believe that they can be the start to a journey of exploring Korean cuisine and traditions. We aspire that we are a source that provides products and information which create a delightful experience and act as an introduction to the wonders of Korean culture.
