Food made in the Ddukbaegi looks so much more tasty than food in normal bowls. But what if we tell you that it doesn’t only LOOK more tasty but it ACTUALLY IS more tasty.
Ddukbaegis are actually nicknamed ‘taste boosting bowl’!
Let’s explore why this name was given to the Ddukbaegi!
Ddukbaegis are distinct because of their key feature of preserving heat and keeping the food piping hot while served at the table.
Ddukbaegis take a relatively long time to heat up compared to normal pots and pans. However, just as it takes a while to heat up, the Ddukbaegi takes a very long time to cool down. This is how the Ddukbaegi keeps your food sizzling, boiling, bubbling or crackling hot even after it has been served. The exceptional preservation of heat is what makes the Ddukbaegi so attractive. It also makes the food nicer; the constant heat from the Ddukbaegi makes sure your food has a consistent heat throughout your meal.
You may have heard that if you use the Ddukbaegi, your dishes have a ‘deeper’ taste.
This is because of the far infrared radiation the Ddukbaegis give off when heated. The far infrared allows even distribution of heat when cooking your food. Each individual ingredient gets balanced heat and therefore, the ingredients cook in a harmonious and even way. The harmony of the ingredients through even cooking is what enhances the taste of the food and leads to a ‘deeper’ taste.
This deeper taste is particularly pointed out in Soups, broths or Jjigaes that are cooked in the Ddukbaegi. To enhance the taste of food with dishes that has soup, we recommend you use broths to make it instead of just plain water. Korean broths often use Rice-washed water, anchovy and kelp. You will find some of Lala Swallow’s Ddukbaegi recipes also use these ingredients to enhance the taste. These broths boiled in the Ddukbaegi intensifies the deepness of the dishes.
The Ddukbaegi is the go-to kitchenware to use when cooking traditional Korean food. However, the Ddukbaegi can also be used to cook your favorite dishes even if they aren’t Korean! All of the advantages of using the Ddukbaegi also apply when cooking your own non-Korean dishes! The Ddukbaegi and the constant and consistent heat will help your dishes have a balanced and harmonious taste.
